Seasonal Allergies

The cold winter slowly let place to spring to show up.  The snow is melting, the days are lengthening, and the birds are coming back.  Unfortunately, for those who suffer from seasonal allergies, this season equals runny nose, red eyes and sneezing.

Seasonal allergies are caused by an immune system misadaptation to his environment.  The immune system becomes overreactive and perceives the pollen as a danger and triggers a series of allergic reactions: tearing, itching, redness of the eyes, sneezing, headaches, nasal discharge and/or congestion, and so on.

Stress, fatigue, air pollution, processed food, tobacco, alcohol will overload and drain our organism who will thereafter have a hard time to adapt itself to his environment.

Acupuncture can prevent symptoms associated with seasonal allergies.  It is recommended to start the treatments 6 to 8 weeks before the beginning of the allergy season (which may vary according to the allergen).  The amount of treatments vary between 4 to 10 according to your health condition.  Acupuncture doesn’t treat disease but the human being; the healthier you and your lifestyle are, the quickest the results will be.

If you read this while tearing and sneezing because the allergies already kicked in, know that acupuncture may reduce your symptoms.  Regular treatments during the allergy season will be necessary.  Stop avoiding spending time outside and book your appointment with Geneviève Shano Ac.
